Types of Braces

 Braces

Traditional Metal Braces
metal bracesTraditional metal braces are one of the most familiar type of braces and are more comfortable to wear today than most think. They are made of high-grade stainless steel, which means that these metal braces straighten your teeth using metal brackets and archwires. With these type of braces, you will even have the option of adding colored elastics (Alastiks®) for a more funky, unique and colorful smile!

Ceramic Braces
ceramic bracesThis style of braces, is made out of clear materials, which makes them less visible on your teeth as opposed to metal braces. For this reason, ceramic braces are used mainly on older teenagers and adult patients who have cosmetic concerns. Even though they are less visible than traditional metal braces, they do require more attention to oral hygiene as ceramic braces are larger and are more brittle than the metal brackets. This is why ceramic braces tend to be used more on upper front teeth than on lower teeth.

Invisible (Clear) Orthodontic Appliances

Invisalign®
invisible bracesInvisalign® are invisible aligners that are a removable and comfortable style of orthodontic treatment. The best part about them is that they stay true to their name, because they are virtually invisible to see! These aligners are great, since you are able to remove them to eat and drink things you normally couldn’t with traditional metal or ceramic braces. It is also helpful to your regular oral hygiene routine, since you won’t have brackets or wires in the way of brushing and flossing. Visit our Invisalign® page to learn more about them!
